"The Serpent Queen" is modeled after the infamous queen of France, Catherine De Medici. Her story of how she vied for power rivals the character of Cersei in Game of Thrones. Catherine relied on astrologers and even employed Nostradamus to gain insights into how to keep her sons in power. She's a fascinating character from history. There are many inspiring portraits that exists of her, and I enjoyed combining them and adding an owl to create a piece and a character in my style of this enigmatic queen.
