Story behind this piece:
"For my piece I was not necessarily inspired by any particular story, but rather the general interpretation of the theme "Ghost Stories". Ghost stories, and the horror genre in general, has been a large part of my life. I wanted to create something that brought the feelings of telling scary stories by candlelight, exploring the occult, reading the macabre, etc. This is the image my mind conjured when reflecting on the theme of this show."

Artist Bio: 
Catherine Moore was born in San Leandro, California, but spent her formative, and awkward, teenage 
years amidst the neon lights and desert landscape of Reno, Nevada. In between frequenting 
underground alternative dance clubs, and running with the other “freaks”, she often turned to drawing 
to feel a sense of connection to the world around her. Art was a constant (and non-judgmental) companion.

Catherine is a graduate of Academy of Art University, San Francisco. She worked for several years as a freelance illustrator and graphic artist and started exhibiting her work in 2011. Her artwork explores the wonder, darkness, and beauty of the human experience filtered through imagination and story telling. Her paintings are completed in oils or acrylic on wood panel. Catherine has exhibited in galleries across the U.S. and her work is collected internationally.
